Digital Summer Training Guide
The National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) is a STEM education nonprofit. Their Summer Series is a two-week online conference in which educators from across the country engage in a variety of sessions, ranging from keynotes to multi-day courses, to help prepare for a great school year.
Given the size of this event and its diverse offerings, it can be incredibly overwhelming for educators to select from the different options.
The Challenge:
How might we support educators in choosing from the offerings available to them during Summer Series?
How might we create an asset that our cultivation teams can use to convey the value of our program offerings?

Storyboarding
One valuable lesson I've gained as a former educator is to not reinvent the wheel. For this project, I conducted a thorough assessment of our existing resources to identify any materials that could be repurposed.
We had previously created brochures for our annual financial reports. Recognizing the potential applicability, I suggested a similar approach for our Summer Series.
To streamline the process, I took the content available in our internal documents, specifically course and program descriptions, and crafted a storyboard for a digital brochure.

Wireframing
I used Miro to sketch some potential page layouts for the brochure.
The main goal of this brochure was to highlight our Summer Series. However, we also wanted to communicate that this series is just one facet of the broader NMSI experience. Equally crucial was illustrating how each of our program components complement and build upon each other.
Handoff and Delivery
After finalizing the storyboard and wireframes based on feedback from internal teams, I handed them off to our Marketing and Communications team to create the final brochure. We worked closely throughout this process to revise and finalize the design.
Impact
We created an engaging guide that provides program participants with information about what they can expect during our summer training, and also includes previews of additional year-round resources.
The organization also has a template they can repurpose for similar projects in the future.
